Oncoferon
Oncoferon is our proprietary long-acting type I interferon for the treatment of cancers including malignant melanoma. Preliminary clinical with this underlying interferon (non-glycosylated) vs. standard-of-care revealed that constitutional toxicities normally observed with IFN treatment were far less frequent with this novel inteferon. In addition, objective tumor responses were seen in both treatment groups suggesting that the reduced toxicity does not lead to reduced efficacy. Alios is using its proprietary hyperglycosylation technology to produce a novel IFN alpha-1 therapy that will have optimized PK characteristics and will be unaltered with respect to biological activity. We believe this will lead to a more convenient once per week melanoma treatment that is at least as efficacious as standard of care and with an improved tolerability profile.
